Your choice may be limited by what you can pay and what is available. Keep this information in mind before deciding:

A 7-inch Tablet is cheaper than a 10-inch Tablet. However, the difference in price between the two seems to be getting less. A 10-inch Tablet is considerably heavier than a 7-inch Tablet, in some case more than twice as heavy.

This makes a big difference and if you need to carry around all day you may notice the weight. 10 inch Tablets can be heavy to hold for long times, especially if you are a child or an older person.

7-inch Tablets will fit into a pocket or small bag. 10-inch Tablets are actually much bulkier and may need a separate carrying bag.

Reading: If you love reading on Tablets. There are some excellent software applications available for free, like Kindle, iBook, and Kobo. The backlight makes reading at night easily. Buying eBooks is easy, instant and often cheaper.

Books are better on a 7-inch Tablet. The page size is more similar to a real book, the device is not much heavier and is compact enough even to read in bed. The 10-inch Tablet is big and heavy in comparison.

In contrast, reading magazines and newspapers is better on the 10-inch Tablet as it has more surface area and can better cope with the larger page formats.

Browsing: Thanks to developments in modern mobile website design, surfing is very good on all size Tablets, even on mobile phones. But if your primary use is to browse, the larger screen size is more appropriate.

Video and Photographs: Movies and photos bigger are better, and the 10-inch Tablet will give a better viewing experience. With modern screens being such high resolution the 7-inch Tablet is actually not that bad.

Gaming: Unless portability is a big problem, playing the more complex and involved games is better on a 10-inch Tablet.

The larger screen increases the playing ability. Often, although not always, the 10-inch Tablets have higher pixel density screens, more powerful processors and more memory, all of which are important for games.

Business Use: Both size Tablets have their use here. Jotting notes in a meeting, calendar entries and to-do markers can be done on a 7-inch Tablet, but if you have to fill in forms then a 10-inch Tablet screen makes more sense as you will need to dedicate some of your screen areas to a keyboard layout.

The larger size is better if you need to show other people the screen during ad-hoc meetings or sales presentations.

Summary: The choice between a 7-inch Tablet and 10-inch Tablet may not be fully subjective, but you should probably get a device that matches your lifestyle and the one that suits the main purpose for buying it.

One last tip: Get a case. A case, which is affordable to buy, is not only to keep the device clean and offer some protection but the polished Tablet back very slippery to hold. A Tablet is a costly item; don’t give it the drop test!
